Right next to the Hotel du Nord is the site of the Museum Village Volksdorf - Hamburg's only museum village. It is considered the nucleus of the former forest village. Excavations prove traces of settlement up to the Neolithic Age. Of the seven half-timbered houses, five can be visited on guided tours.

With their inventory, they very vividly convey an impression of rural life on the Stormarner Geest more than a hundred years ago. The oldest building on the site is the Spiekerhus from 1624.
The site also houses farm animal species threatened with extinction, which were also found on a farm in the 19th century, such as sheep, pigs, goats and free-range chickens, as well as Schleswig cold-blooded horses used in agricultural work and carriage rides, because the museum association "De Spieker" also shows agriculture of the past, without modern technology.
One of the houses is furnished as a farm with the corresponding stables, as it is otherwise only known from picture books. Throughout the year, the living museum revives old traditions and crafts at numerous events. Participation is expressly desired and a special attraction especially for families with children.
